Prayer Guide for Our Nation

  1. Joel 2: 12 – 14.  “Even now,” declares The Lord, “return to me with all your heart. With fasting and weeping and mourning…for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.  Who Knows? He my turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing…” Ask God to forgive us our sins, as a people of God, and as a nation.
  2. Ps. 29: 3-5 “The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is upon many (great) waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.”  Release the voice of God over all counties in Kenya to counter all voices that are contrary to His will during campaigns. Ask God to thunder against lies, rebellion and violence.
  3. Ps. 64:5 “They encourage themselves in an evil purpose, they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, who will discover us?”  Ask God to expose all aspirants who consult powers of darkness to win elections and pray that Kenyans will uphold godly values thus reject such men.
  4. Ex. 15:9 “The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my desire shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.”  Ask God to frustrate the plans of the enemy against this nation, and to institute His plans which cannot be thwarted. (Ps. 33:10,11.)Ask also that no foreign influence upon the Kenya elections whose intention is selfish will be able to derail our nation from the purposes of God.
  5. 1 Sam 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  Ask God to give Kenya a leader of his choice as He did during the time of David.
  6. Ps 47:5 “God has ascended amid shouting, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.”  Ask God to sound a trumpet over all the 42 tribes in Kenya so that we may be delivered from the spirit of tribalism and have peaceful elections.
  7. Pray that the youth will not be misused during the election time to cause violence.
  8. Ask God to frustrate the plans of evil men and women who are relying on their money to bribe people so that they may win the forthcoming election
  9. Pray that elections will be free and fair in the eyes of all so that no one will doubt the results.  Ask God to touch the hearts of all the candidates to accept the results that God will have given us.
  10. Pray that the media will be responsible and fair during this period of campaign.
