My first assignment with the Navigators was in 1987 as the administration assistant at the Kenya Office while Carol was the personal assistant to the Africa Leader, Mike Treneer. Carol and I have been married for 16 years, and for the same number of years, have been serving with the Navigators Mombasa. Our son Wathayu is 12. We lead the Navigators ministry in Mombasa, shepherding the leadership team and ensuring that our calling and vision remains on track. I am also part of the Kenya Leadership Team that gives oversight to the Navigators Kenya.
My wife and I regularly meet 8 people and mentor many others in small groups and one-on-one with a deliberate emphasis on discipleship. Our ministry focus is Core group (a ministry designed and dedicated for youths transitioning from high school to college). This year we celebrate Fidi Buki our first full-time intern in the Short Term Experience in Ministry (S.T.E.M) program. Since the year 2000, we have been having part-time participants in the program. With the help of a team comprised of Eliphas Amimo, Faith Mupe, Nixon Nang’ani, Christine Wakesho, Juliah Nyatta and Jacque Uku-Kareko, we have been able to lead the Pre-campus Ministry, Couples Ministry and the Church Discipleship Ministry. In addition, the Mombasa team frequently organizes entrepreneurial seminars courtesy of the Economic Projects Trust Fund (E.P.T.F).
We are excited about establishing rich legacies. Our prayer is that we will raise and leave laborers for every generation (Psalm 145:4).
