Mutua & Stephanie Mahiaini

The Lord has blessed Stephanie and me with 4 wonderful children: Mahia (working in the Kenya media industry), Njoki (currently doing her internship at Nairobi Baptist Church), Kanaiya (Studying in Canada), and Gathoni (USIU).

I was introduced to the Navigators in 1969 by Jim White. I become more involved in 1973 while doing my ‘A’ Levels as Ove Tinggard discipled me, and I have since served in different capacities.

Currently Stephanie and I are in a period of transition. We have been invited to join the International Executive Team (IET). Having served as the Navigators Africa Regional Director for the last 13 years, we feel humbled by what God has continued to do in and through us. These years of serving by leading the Regional work have been an incredible privilege. We have enjoyed working with the Regional Team, the Regional Council, the Board and the National Teams more than we can adequately describe. We are deeply grateful.

A recurring, sustaining and energizing theme for the years serving as Country Leader for Kenya, then Ivory Coast, and lately as Africa Leader, comes from Zechariah 10:4-5: “From Judah will come the cornerstone from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler. Together they will be like mighty men trampling the muddy streets in battle. Because the LORD is with them, they will fight and overthrow the horsemen.”

The beauty and power of synergy is so energizing and motivating! The Africa Navigators are poised for major breakthroughs in discipling the nations of our continent. With the quality of leadership God has given us, we have seen God move in local missionary sending, funding the work from Africa, opening the work in new countries, ministry fruitfulness among the young and older folk, working with the poor, the rural, and with oral learners … the list goes on. This is a kairos moment for the Africa Navs.

As Stephanie and I transition, we pray that both the leaders and laborers will remain motivated, focused, united and fruitful generationally over the long haul.

Mutua & Stephanie Mahiaini,
International Executive Team
