My second 5 year term as Country Leader for the Navigators of Kenya was renewed last December. I still recall Mike Treneer’s message from John 21 as he encouraged Patience and I along the same lines that the Lord encouraged Peter: to tend His lambs, to shepherd His sheep and to tend His sheep.
I met the Navigators in 1979 just prior to joining Veterinary School – where I also met Patience. We have been married 26 years and have loved raising our 3 children – Mindy, Michael and Christie. We are also taking care of my orphaned nieces Lavina and Elvira.
In addition to leading the Kenya work, shepherding the staff and ensuring that our calling and vision remain on course, I oversee the Navigators Church Ministries (NCM) in Africa. In my grassroots ministry, I disciple 12 people and mentor many others. Patience and I also lead a ministry that focuses on marriage and parenting. Our goal is to reach the nations through heads of households and to disciple the world one family at a time.
Patience regularly meets at least 21 people in small groups and one-on-one in discipleship relationships. I enjoy having weekly bible study over “Skype” with Mindy and Michael who study overseas. Verses that motivate us include Isaiah 46:3-4; Psalm 2:8; John 17; Philippians 3:7-14; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 and Colossians 1:27-28.
Pray for Patience and I to have a deep love for one another and a vibrant walk with God that will enable us carry out our responsibilities.
